This Hatha Yoga class is taught closely following the traditional sequencing principles and incorporates pranayama and meditation as an essential part of the practice.

After a set of Hatha Surya Namaskara (traditional sun salutations), we continue the asana practice with standing, kneeling, prone, supine and inverted poses. By holding most poses for 8-10 breaths instead of flowing from one to the next, we become very aware of the body, of the focus needed to create structure and of the possibility to breathe ease with despite the effort.

A little yoga experience is useful when joining this class, but this practice is also suitable for beginners as we pay attention to alignment and there is time to make adjustments as we hold the poses. By doing Hatha Yoga, we learn the foundations and intentions of the poses, building a solid and safe practice.

For intermediate and advanced practitioners, this is a return to the essence of the asana practice where breath and intention are put above shape and flow.
